Los mecanismos alternativos de solución de conflictos son aquellas formas de administrar justicia por medio de los cuales, de manera consensual o por requerimiento, los protagonistas de un conflicto - ya sea al interior del sistema judicial o en una etapa previa - concurren legítimamente ante terceros a fin de encontrar la solución del mismo a través de un acuerdo mutuamente satisfactorio cuya resolución final goza de amparo legal para todos sus efectos, como por ejemplo su ejecutabilidad.
